Your GoBoat experience

How to make the most of your GoBoat experience

Welcome aboard! Your GoBoat experience should be part of your highlight reel. There's nothing quite like the feeling of being on the water and making memories with loved ones.

GoBoat gives you unprecedented access to the waterways allowing you to see the city from an entirely new perspective. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, GoBoat is an unmissable experience.

The Danish word "hygge" is a major part of the sailing experience - that's why our boats are design are equipped with a picnic table in the middle while the fully-electric motor is almost completely silent.

We recommend bringing a picnic onboard to enjoy along the way. Responsible consumption of alcohol is permitted at some locations. Find out more here.

All of our locations offer a slightly different experience, with different things to see along each route.

If you're looking for an instagrammable city backdrop, Canary Wharf has you covered. For a more relaxed, family experience, head to Kingston or Thames Ditton. Our Paddington and Birmingham routes are both located on canals which provide a winding route and ever-changing scenery along the way.

We look forward to welcoming you onto the water, and hope you love your GoBoat experience just as much as we love having you!

Doing our bit for the environment

While sailing is fun for everybody, our impact on the environment should be as small as possible. We want to make the water more enjoyable for everyone, which means sharing it harmoniously with our neighbours and other water users.

Please take any rubbish off of the boat with you and dispose of it responsibly. When planning your picnic, consider bringing plastic-free options.

Some of GoBoat's sustainable initiatives

  • All our boats have electric motors
  • Our boats are made responsibly including the use of recycled materials
  • The boats have a long life expectancy. Boats from when we opened in 2017 are still in use today
  • We run regular canal clean up events to keep our waterways clear, safe and enjoyable for all water users

FAQs

Are there different sizes of GoBoats?

No, all of our GoBoats are the same size. They all have a maximum capacity for 8 people, with a picnic table in the middle to enjoy food and drinks onboard.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Absolutely! We encourage you to bring your own picnic, however, please remember that Paddington is an alcohol-free location. Please see here for our alcohol restrictions at each location.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes! We love dogs. Please be aware that we do not provide life jackets for dogs. They are brought onto the boat at their owner’s risk.

Do the boats drive themselves?

In the marine world, the term 'self-drive' refers to a boat you can drive yourself (rather than hiring a boat with a driver). Our boats do not drive themselves - you get the full experience of being the captain for the day by steering with our easy-to-use tiller system! We'll give the captain a full tutorial before you set off.
